Why Choose Us?

Fast, Easy, and Always On

With Adaptive you never have to wait for a recruiter.  Our site does it all.  Immediately access great profiles, see rates right away, message and invite candidates to online interviews, and award and start the job with the click of a button.  Everything is online and under your control.

Transparency

At Adaptive we believe in two things:  full disclosure and keeping things simple.  That’s why we charge the same low fee no matter what (see price next).  Its also why you get to see and search every candidate we have - we never claim we have more, or hold back on our best.  In short, you see everything we see!

Price

Adaptive always charges the same flat administrative fee for all assignments– 20% of the bill.  Traditional staffing firms usually charge twice this amount because they have to cover a lot more overhead (like office rent, personnel and even paper).  We also pay all the necessary employee payroll taxes and insurance and include a flat fee for this as well of 10% of the bill.  The rest, 70%, goes to the professional.  Simple and transparent.

Two Day Guarantee

If at any time during the first 16 hours of the assignment you don’t think it’s working out you won’t have to pay.  It’s that simple.  There’s no further commitment.

Accounting and Finance Specialists

All we do is accounting and finance.  We go above and beyond to attract and screen only the most qualified professionals.  In fact we were founded by a CPA and 20 year finance veteran.

Exceptional Service

With Adaptive you’ll always have a human being to talk to if you need assistance with your assignment.  Whether its help finding the right person or assistance with the site we’re always available.

Online Tools Make It Fast & Easy

If you have ever waited for a recruiter to send resumes, or sat through an interview where you knew in the first five minutes it wouldn't work out, then you'll appreciate some of the online tools Adaptive has to save you time. Take a look:

* Uniform Profiles instead of varying resume formats

* Match Scores to show how each candidate matches your search or job requirements

* Video Resumes

* Live Video Interviews

* Recorded Answers to your interview questions for you to review at any time

* Candidate Comparison Tool

* Messaging with file upload

Adaptive Takes Care of the Employer Responsibilities

Flexible Staffing as Your Business Requires

Whether its peak workloads like year-end, the absence of a finance team member, or a special project like a financial model or new accounting system, you have the on-demand flexibility and resources of Adaptive's Professionals.

Adaptive Takes Care of the Employer Responsibilities

Adaptive Professionals are Adaptive's employees. So we take care of all the taxes, compliance and paperwork. You just get the help you need. One big benefit of this is you don't have to worry about contractor vs. employee classification challenges from federal or state authorities.

The Adaptive Professional

All Accounting and Finance

Adaptive is an online staffing marketplace and community dedicated to accounting and finance professionals. Our professionals range from bookkeeper to CFO, and varying years of experience, industry backgrounds, skill sets, specializations, certifications and degrees.

Professional Profiles

Adaptive Professionals have detailed profiles, customized for finance and accounting, that clients can review as part of their screening process. View a candidate's desired rate, video resume, profile pic, accounting and finance skill sets, job titles, certifications, educational degrees and other attributes.  Plus view historical job ratings from other clients and jobs and hours logged to date on Adaptive.

A Community

Adaptive isn't just an online staffing site. We are a community of accounting and finance professionals.  All users, both clients and candidates can build networking lists and create and join groups. This enables our Adaptive Professionals to access valuable support from other members while working on client engagements or to share technical, industry or career insight particular to accounting and finance professionals.

Background Checks

Adaptive Professionals have the option of completing a thorough background check as part of their online profile. For those that do we display an icon next to the individuals name in all search results. Background checks are conducted by a third party with one of the largest online criminal conviction databases in the industry.

The Job Page and Workflow

The Adaptive Job Page is your command central for any jobs you post.

From the time you post your job, through the time you mark it complete, it looks the same as the original job post, but tabs are added at the bottom to manage all your activities as the job progresses.

Job Stages:

Jobs progress through four stages: Posted, Rate Negotiation, Working and Completed

Posted  This is the stage where you've first posted the job, are receiving applicants and conducting interviews, but you have not yet entered into any rate negotiations.

Rate Negotiation  In this stage you have begun rate negotiations with at least one candidate. You can still receive applicants and conduct interviews with other candidates. But remember once you start rate negotiations with a candidate you can't interview that candidate again.

Working  When you finally award the job to one candidate the job enters the working stage. All other candidates are notified that they are no longer eligible. In this stage the Adaptive Professional begins working and logging work hours for you to approve.

Completed   When it is time for the job to end, you simply click the Mark Job Complete button and the job is categorized as Complete, and work hours can no longer be logged. You can then provide a review and rating of the Adaptive Professional's performance.

Job Tabs:

Job tabs are added to the bottom of the job page as the job progresses to help you manage all the activities for that job. Each tab represents an activity.

Applications  As candidates apply to the job they are listed on the applications tab. From here you can invite them to an interview.

Interviews  Any candidates invited to an interview are listed on the Interviews tab. From here you can track each candidate's interview time and type of interview, join live interviews, prepare and view recorded interviews and reschedule.

Rate Negotiations  When you begin rate negotiations with a candidate, they are listed on the Rate Negotiations tab. From here you can track your offered hourly rate, candidate counter offers and acceptances. This is also where you award the job to the candidate you select by pressing the Award button.

Messages  The messages tab appears during the job's Working stage. This is where you and your Adaptive Professional can exchange messages and upload files relevant to the job.

Work Hours  The Work Hours tab appears during the job's Working stage. Each day your Adaptive Professional will record their time spent working on your job by recording it on the Work Hours tab. From here you can review and approve the time each day or by no later than the next Wednesday following week's end.

Rating and Review  When the job is marked complete the Rating and Review tab will be shown. This is your opportunity to provide valuable feedback to the candidate in the form of ratings in 6 categories via a scale of 1-5 stars. These ratings will become part of the candidate's public profile which helps make Adaptive a more effective marketplace for other clients. You can also provide written feedback but this is only shown to the candidate.

Hire Directly: If you wish to employ the candidate directly instead of through Adaptive, all job tabs have a Hire Directly button for each candidate. So at any time regardless of the stage of the job you can send a direct hire offer to the candidate. Once clicked the Hire Direct fee will be shown.

Interviewing

Through your Adaptive Job Page you can schedule and manage interviews with Adaptive Professionals in four different ways:

Live Video: Save time and never leave your desk by scheduling a live video interview. See the FAQ section for more information.

Recorded Video: Save even more time by preparing questions that candidates record video answers to. View the answers at anytime and share the interview with your hiring team. See our FAQ section for more information.

Telephone: Schedule a telephone interview.

In Person:  Designate a place and time to interview in person.

Clients control the type of interview and propose the time. Either client or candidates can propose alternative times or reschedule.

Visit the FAQ section for more information on rules for setting up interviews.

Rate Negotiation

Negotiate Rates Directly!

Clients and candidates can negotiate rates directly for any job. It starts with the client proposing a rate which the candidate can then accept or counter-offer. The process continues until the other party accepts.

Total Transparency

At any time during rate negotiation, the client or candidate can click the button View Rate Breakdown and see the proposed client bill rate, the candidate pay rate, an amount for payroll taxes and insurance, and Adaptive's administrative fee.  Adaptive's fee is always the same at 20% of the bill rate regardless of the job. This is 1/2 what traditional staffing firms charge! Overtime rates are also disclosed for each candidate on the OT Details link.

Easy To Do!

To begin rate negotiations just click the Rate Negotiation button next to any candidate listed on your Job Page tabs. Then just enter a rate and click Propose New Rate. The job will now be categorized in Rate Negotiation status and the Rate Negotiation tab will now appear on the job page for you and the candidate to use to propose and counter-offer until you're in agreement.

You can come to agreement on rates with as many candidates as you like until you have decided which you'll award the job to. Then just click the award button on the candidate you choose, and the job moves to the Working stage.

Awarding the Job

Pick Your Candidate

After you've finished negotiating rates with candidates you choose the one to work on the job by clicking the award button. The chosen candidate will be notified and the job is then classified as Working. All other candidates will no longer be eligible for the job and will be notified that they were declined.

Start the Work

After you've awarded the job and the I-9 is complete, the candidate can start work. Each day, the candidate will enter work hours on the Work Hours tab for you to review and approve.

Hiring Directly

Temp-To-Perm *

At any time during an assignment a client can offer the Adaptive Professional a permanent position directly with the client by clicking the Hire Directly button on the Job Page. If the Adaptive Professional accepts, the job is marked Complete and work hours can no longer be logged. You will be charged a fee of between 1% - 3% of the professional's annualized pay rate (2080 hrs x hourly pay rate). The percentage is reduced over time based upon the number of hours worked, as follows:

0-520 hours            =  3%

521-1040 hours     =  2%

1041-2080 hours   = 1%

>2080 hours           =  0%

For clients that wish to use the additional services of Adaptive's recruiting personnel to fulfill assignments, instead of our site, the maximum rate will be 20%.

Perm Only *

Client's may also offer a permanent position to a candidate before any hours have been worked. For instance, this may happen during interviews or the rate negotiation stage. In this case, when the client clicks the Hire Directly button and the candidate accepts, the fee is a flat fee based upon the job title posted on the Job Page and ranges from $1,000 for entry-level to $5,000 for executive.

For clients that wish to use the additional services of Adaptive's recruiting personnel to fill their permanent position the fee will be 20% of annual compensation.

Paying

Timesheets

Adaptive Professionals can post time worked on jobs daily. Adaptive processes client billing and payroll weekly. Weeks run from Monday through Sunday.  Professionals have until the next day, Monday, at 6pm, to post their time for the previous week. Clients have two more days, until Wednesday, at 6pm, to review and approve time for the previous week, but they can approve time sooner, whenever its posted.  Any time which has not been approved or disputed by this time is automatically marked approved.

Billing for Work Hours

All approved time for the previous week is processed and charged to the client's credit card automatically on the next Wednesday at 6pm. Client's receive a weekly invoice by email, and in their Adaptive account, detailing each day's hours during the billing week..

Payment

Clients pay work hour invoices by credit card. Invoices are processed automatically at Wednesday at 6pm.

Charges for Direct Hire fees occur at the time a candidate accepts the direct hire offer.

Payment for other items such as subscriptions or additional postings or profile views are also made via credit card.

Please see our FAQ section for more information regarding timesheets, payment methods and sales taxes.

Networking

Build Your Network. Promote Your Company and Job. Earn Credits.

We've all learned that one of the best ways to find candidates is through networking. So we've built networking into Adaptive's site! Adaptive's networking function lets you build a network of both candidates and other clients. Having candidates in your network list keeps them aware of your open assignments and can be a valuable referral source to that perfect candidate.  Having other clients in your network list can mean sharing information about jobs and candidates and is a potential source of technical information and advice.

Invited contacts receive an invitation to register and view your profile. When they do you receive points worth $50, for each new registered user, that can be used towards your paid subscription, or anything on the site other than work hours. See Refer-A-Friend below and our FAQ section for more info on our Refer-A-Friend credit.

Invite Your Contacts

The easiest way to build your networking list is to import your contacts using our contact grabber tool. Import your contacts from Gmail, Yahoo, Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook with just a few clicks.  Or you can send individual invitations by entering each contact's name and email.

Contacts will be sent an invitation to register and view your profile.

Use Social Media

Adaptive makes it easy to use social media to promote your assignments and company profile and build your network list. We've included buttons for LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, on your Network page that lets you directly share a post on your social media page that includes a link back to your Adaptive profile. Interested contacts and friends can then click the link, register and view your profile.

Groups

Clients and Adaptive Professionals can create and join groups focused on their particular interests or needs.

Groups can be a great way to alert others that you have posted a new assignment and are seeking candidates.

Groups can also be really valuable to accounting and finance professionals who want to find others with a similar specialized skill set, title or job function, and wish to collaborate, share ideas or seek solutions to problems on the job.

Anyone, client or professional, can set up a group. The group owner determines the group's settings such as public or private, or whether new members will require approval.

Refer-A-Friend

Adaptive's Refer-A-Friend program is designed to encourage our members to market their profiles while helping to build Adaptive's community and marketplace.

When an Adaptive member invites their contacts to see their profile and join Adaptive, both the user and their contact can each receive $50 worth of Refer-A-Friend credit points that can be used on the site. Users must invite their contacts using their Invite My Contacts page after they log in (see the How It Works - Networking section). Every invitation is sent with a unique link to the existing member's profile.

Both the new user and the original member that sent the invitation receive their credit points when the new user makes their first paid transaction.

Refer-a-friend credits can be used towards anything on the site, except payment for work hours. Credits can be used for up to 75% of the transaction total.

Adaptive combines the best of online job boards, professional networking sites, matching technology, staffing and accounting and finance expertise to bring together accounting and finance professionals with the clients that need the help. Create a profile, search and find job matches using attributes geared to the accounting and finance professional.  Choose customized skill sets, certifications, accounting and finance degrees, and job titles that combine to help you find that perfect client and assignment.

Eliminate the Middleman and Take Control of Your Accounting and Finance Career

Traditional staffing companies utilize recruiters that you must rely on to provide you with opportunites and negotiate your rate. But with Adaptive you have control!  See all the best jobs, the rates offered and the requirements, and apply to any job you want.  Then negotiate your rate directly with the client!

You Get Full Transparency

With Adaptive, not only will you negotiate the rate directly with the client, but you'll always know the bill rate, what Adaptive makes, and of course your pay rate.  Adaptive's fee is always the same.  We use 10% of the bill rate towards required payroll taxes and insurance and 20% as Adaptive's administrative fee. With traditional staffing firms their fee is nearly double that! At any time while negotiating rates, just click the Rate Breakdown button for all the details!

Tools to Increase Your Chances of Success

We want our Adaptive Professionals to have the best chances of success. So we've thought of some tools to help you get an edge, and to make your assignments easier, including a) superior matching technology customized for accounting and finance attributes, b) video resumes to help you communicate your strengths more powerfully and personally, c) enhanced profiles to let you stand out from the crowd, d) live video interviews or recorded video interviews, e) message boards with file upload, f) online time sheets, g) online payroll portal powered by ADP and g) networking and groups to help you promote your career and find support.

Your Profile

All Adaptive Professionals have access to the profile builder tool, which walks you through everything you need to create a marketable profile for an accounting and finance professional.  Designed for accounting and finance, Adaptive's profile builder is populated with customized skill sets, job titles, certifications, educational degrees and other attributes that will help you more sucessfully present your career and background.  Plus, upload a video resume and profile pic, name your desired rate, take skill tests, detail your work history, titles and accomplishments, desired travel percentage and more. Your profile also logs the number of assigments and hours completed on Adaptive and your cumulative client ratings.

Adaptive's site is customized for the accounting and finance profession. We've loaded it with accounting and finance skill sets, job titles, certifications, educational degrees and career attributes that allow our matching technology to produce a more accurate match of job postings to your profile.

Adaptive Professionals create detailed profiles, customized for finance and accounting, that clients can review as part of their screening process. Your profile includes your desired rate, video resume, profile pic, customized accounting and finance skill sets, job titles, certifications, educational degrees and other attributes.  Plus over time your profile will display historical job ratings and total jobs and hours completed on Adaptive.

Adaptive Professionals are Adaptive's Employees

Adaptive Professionals are Adaptive's employees. So you don't have to worry about getting paid for the hours you worked the way a contractor (i.e., 1099) would.  We take care of all the taxes, compliance and paperwork and you'll have access to our online payroll portal powered by ADP. Other online contractor sites don't provide this. They make professionals engage with clients directly as contractors or ask you and the client to contract with an outside payrolling company, while they still take their fee.

The Job Page and Workflow

The Adaptive Job Page is your command central for all your jobs.

From the time you first apply, through the time a job is completed, it looks the same as the original job post, but tabs are added at the bottom to manage all your activities as the job progresses.

Job Stages:

Active jobs progress through four stages: Applied, Invited, Rate Negotiation, Working and Completed

Applied  This is the stage where you've first applied to a job and are waiting to hear back from the client.

Invited  If your application results in the client sending you an invitation request to interview, then the job is listed in the Invited stage. A job can also be listed here if the client invited you after discovering your profile in a search or match recommendation.

Rate Negotiation  If the client would like to begin negotiating rates with you the job is then listed in the Rate Negotiation stage. Interviews no longer occur in this stage. The job will remain in this stage, even if you have agreed upon a rate, until the client decides to award you the job.

Working  If the client awards you the job, the job enters the Working stage. All other candidates are notified that they are no longer eligible. In this stage Adaptive Professionals must complete the I-9 verification process, if they haven't already done so as part of another job.  After that you begin working and logging hours for the client to approve.

Completed   When it is time for the job to end, the client will click the Mark Job Complete button and the job is categorized as Complete. Work hours can no longer be logged. In this stage the client can provide a review and rating of your performance.

Job Tabs:

Job tabs are added to the bottom of the job page as the job progresses to help you manage all the activities for that job. Each tab represents an activity.

Messages  The Messages tab is where you and the client can exchange messages and upload files relevant to job.

Reference Requests  If the client has requested references, the request will appear on the Reference Requests tab which will allow you to electronically send and receive replies from your references.

Interview Requests  If the client has requested an interview it will appear on the Interview Requests tab. From here you can track the interview time and type of interview, join live interviews, answer recorded interviews and reschedule.

Availability Calendar  The availability calendar keeps track of all your scheduled interviews.

Rate Negotiations  Rate negotiations with a client appear on the Rate Negotiations tab. From here you can track the offered hourly rate, counter offers and any acceptance.

Work Hours  The Work Hours tab appears during the job's Working stage. Each day's time you spent working on the job is recorded here. The client has this same tab where they can review and approve the hours.

Rating and Review  When the job is marked complete the Rating and Review tab will be shown. This is where the client can provide valuable feedback in the form of ratings in 6 categories via a scale of 1-5 stars. These ratings will become part of your profile and helps make Adaptive a more effective marketplace. The client can also provide written feedback but this is only shown to you.

Hire Directly: If the client would like to make you a direct offer of employment instead of you working through Adaptive, their tabs have a Hire Directly button. When the client makes you a direct hire offer you will receive a notification in your email and your Adaptive inbox. If you accept, the client will be charged a direct hire fee, and you can then work directly for the client.

Interviewing

A client invites you to a job by requesting an interview.  Interview requests appear in the Job Page and consist of four different types:

Live Video: Live video interviews can occur anywhere you have an internet connection, a device capable of streaming video (such as a laptop or tablet) and a webcam. Visit the FAQ section for more information.

Recorded Video: With recorded video interviews, clients prepare questions in video form or just text, that candidates record video answers to using their webcam and internet capable device. Visit the FAQ section for more information.

Telephone: Telephone only interview.

In Person:  The client designates a place and time to interview in person.

Clients control the type of interview and propose the time. Either client or candidates can propose alternative times or reschedule.

Visit our FAQ section for more information on rules for setting up interviews.

Rate Negotiation

Negotiate Rates Directly!

Clients and candidates can negotiate rates directly for any job. It starts with the client proposing a rate which the candidate can then accept or counter-offer. The process continues until one accepts.

Easy To Do!

The process begins when the client clicks the Rate Negotiation button next to any candidate listed on their Job Page tabs. The client enters a rate and clicks Propose New Rate. This sends an email and notification to the candidate that the client has offered a rate, and the job will now be categorized in Rate Negotiation status. The Rate Negotiation tab will now appear on the job page for you and the client to use to propose and counter-offer until you're in agreement.

The client can come to agreement on rates with as many candidates as they wish until they have decided which to award the job to. If its you then you'll receive an email and notification and the job will be classified as Working. Candidate's not chosen will be notified and the job will be classified as Declined.

Getting Awarded The Job

One Job, Or Multiple Jobs

Since jobs can vary in terms of hours required, Adaptive Professionals are free to work on more than one job at once with different clients, or just one job at a time. It's up to you! The only thing you can't do is work on two or more jobs for the same client.

Getting Awarded The Job

The client can come to agreement on rates with as many candidates as they wish until they have decided which to award the job to. If its you then you'll receive an email and notification and the job will be classified as Working. The next step is to complete the I-9 process if you haven't already with another job.

The I-9

Due to federal regulations Adaptive Professionals cannot be required to complete a Form I-9 until they have been awarded a job for the first time. So not all Adaptive Professionals have completed I-9's. Your I-9 status is visible to clients at any time when viewing your detailed profile. If it does not say Verified then the I-9 will have to be completed before work on the job can begin.

Adaptive makes the process easy.  You complete the I-9 Form online and upload scans of required supporting documents. Adaptive reviews the online I-9 Form and scanned supporting documents first. Then, your first day on the job, you bring the original documents for the client to see, who then electronically signs the I-9 Form by clicking the Verify button on the Job Page.

Check out our FAQ section for more information on the I-9.

Start Working

After being awarded the job and receiving a verified I-9 status you can start work. Each day, you enter work hours on the Work Hours tab for the client to review and approve.

Hired Directly

Client's can send Adaptive Professionals an offer of direct employment with the client at any time, whether its during a temporary assignment or without one.

Temp-To-Perm *

At any time during an assignment a client can offer the Adaptive Professional a permanent position directly with the client by clicking the Hire Directly button on their Job Page. If the Adaptive Professional accepts, the client will be charged a fee of between 0% - 3% of the professional's annualized pay rate (2080 hrs x hourly pay rate), with the percentage reduced over time as more hours on the job are logged . Once you accept a direct hire offer work hours can no longer be logged.

Perm Only *

Client's may also offer a permanent position to a candidate before any hours have been worked. For instance, this may happen during interviews or the rate negotiation stage. In this case, when the client clicks the Hire Directly button on their job page and the candidate accepts, the client is charged a flat fee based upon the job title posted on the Job Page ranging from $1,000 for entry-level to $5,000 for executive.

In the case of a client requesting additional, traditional, recruiting services of Adaptive personnel pricing is higher.  Please see the Client How It Works section for more information.

Getting Paid

Getting Paid for Work Hours

Payroll for all approved time for the previous week is processed on the next Friday.  Adaptive Professionals can also access their paycheck information online in our payroll portal powered by ADP, and detail of all weekly work hours is available in their Adaptive account.

Please visit the FAQ section to learn more about time postings, timely submission of time, and client time approvals and disputes.

How to Register on the Online Payroll Portal

Adaptive Professionals have the option of accessing our online payroll portal powered by ADP.

The payroll portal is accessible by Adaptive Professionals who have been awarded jobs, completed their I-9 and are going to begin working on jobs.

The portal allows Adaptive Professionals to view their payroll information, adjust W-4 allowances, enter direct deposit information and see paycheck details.

Networking

Build Your Network. Promote Your Profile. Earn Credits.

We've all learned that one of the best ways to secure a job is through networking. So we've built networking into Adaptive's site! Adaptive's networking function lets you build a network of both clients and candidates. Having client's in your network list keeps them aware that you're available for assignments.  Having candidates in your network list can mean sharing information about other opportunities and is a potential source of technical information and advice when you're on a job or looking.

Invited contacts receive an invitation to register and view your profile. When they do you receive points worth $50, for each new registered user, that can be used towards your paid subscription. See Refer-A-Friend below and our FAQ section for more information on our Refer-A-Friend credit.

Adaptive makes it easy to use social media to share your profile and build your network list.

Groups can be really valuable to accounting and finance professionals who want to find others with a similar specialized skill set, title or job function, and wish to collaborate, share ideas or seek solutions to problems on the job.

Groups can also be a great way for clients to alert others that they have posted a new assignment and are seeking candidates.
